Urologist in Lubbock, TX
Dr. Nicholson was born in Miami, Florida just prior to his father’s medical school graduation. While his father was serving in the Navy, he moved around the country and spent his formative years in San Diego, California. He completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Davis before entering The Chicago Medical School. After finishing a 6-year Urology residency at Loyola University Medical Center outside of Chicago, he was accepted as a Fellow in Urologic Oncology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. He spent four years there as a Fellow and junior faculty member. Dr. Nicholson then transitioned from academic medicine to Lubbock, Texas in 2004 where he partnered with Dr. James Kirk and Dr. Rex Reynolds to form Kirk, Nicholson and Reynolds Urology, LLP. He was honored when his father, Dr. Thomas Nicholson joined the partnership a few years later.
Dr. Nicholson has received numerous awards during his training and career showcasing his dedication to the field of Urology and Urologic Oncology. He has authored or contributed to several peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. In 2012 and again in 2018, he was one of six distinguished physicians to earn a Physician of Excellence Award, which is selected by his peers within the Covenant Health System.
Married in 1997, he and his wife Alison are proud parents of 5 children. Dr. Nicholson plans to continue to provide award-winning service to the West Texas and Eastern New Mexico area for years to come.
